The Dynamics of Linkages and Innovativeness in Publicly and Privately Driven Agricultural Value Chains
The study examined how linkages among actors in the cocoa and pineapple value chains relate to the innovativeness of actors in the chains. The study showed that a policy environment that promoted public sector leadership in value chain functions and service provision, tended to offer less incentives for smallholder producers in the value chain to forge linkages and interact horizontally or vertically. -

Farmer Participation And Sustainability Of Public Irrigation Schemes In Ghana: The Case Of Kpong Irrigation Scheme
In Ghana empirical reports indicate that farmer participation in irrigation projects is still very low, putting sustainability of such irrigation projects at risk. The study sought to determine the extent to which socio-economic and institutional factors influence the level of farmers’ participation and sustainability of the Kpong Irrigation Scheme. Using survey research design, quantitative data were collected from 200 respondents who were selected through systematic random sampling. -
Efficacy of Garlic (Allium Sativum) Bulb and Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) Rhizome Extracts in Controlling Seed-Borne Fungi of Rice (Oryza Sativa)
The efficacy of garlic bulb and ginger rhizome extracts were tested in-vitro at different concentrations against four seed-borne fungi (Aspergillus flavus, Bipolaris oryzae, Curvularia lunata and Fusarium moniliforme) isolated from rice. Bulbs of garlic and rhizomes of ginger were blended with distilled water to make 60% w/v and 40% w/v concentrations of botanical extracts. Surface of Potato Dextrose Agar plates were coated with 2 mls of the botanical extracts and sterile distilled water (control), inoculated with disc of the fungal isolates (8 mm) and incubated at 28°C. -
